Wordpress Websites Turn Your Small Business Dreams into Reality

I was as surprised as anyone to hear a few years ago that WordPress had blossomed into a full-fledged content management system from a cute, well-meaning blog platform.

As a guy used to spending way too much money on custom CMS solutions, or pre-packaged CMS solutions (Drupal, et al), or by spending too much money on having a developer make my changes, I was relieved that I could do everything myself without dropping too much cash. After completing several WordPress sites inexpensively, I now offer design and development services through the internet marketing company Rooster Strategic Communications.

Over the years I picked up a few design skills and eventually learned how to work a little magic in illustrator. Fortunately this is all I needed to design a website. I lay out the home page, then put any additional pages on another layer. The trick, to keep costs down, is to stick to a single theme or template with a dedicated content area, so that your developer doesn’t wind up programming extra themes — and charging you for it.

I know some html basics, but I’m a programmer by no stretch. This is how I know WordPress is small business friendly: I’ve never had to go back to my developer in order to make changes to a site. I can add plugins on my own and make content changes as I please.

Now, keep in mind that most of the sites I do are fairly basic. No e-commerce, nothing too data-base intensive. From a hard-core development standpoint I’m not going to tell your WordPress is the way to go. However, if you’re looking for a crisp looking site and the ability to manage it entirely on your own, WordPress is for you.

Located in Minneapolis, Rooster internet marketing services include SEO, content, Online PR, social media marketing,
WordPress Website Design, and more.
