Ten years ago, stuck in a dead-end job and thinking that this was as good as it was going to get. I was speaking to a friend of mine who was doing extremely well for himeself. He was getting sick of hearing my gripe about my job every time he saw me. He wanted to hang out like friends would normally do, not sit around and listen to people complain about their situation. So he let me in on how he became so successful. He told me that he was into marketing products on the Internet. He used to tell me he owned a marketing business, I never asked about it because I did not know anything about marketing. He explained that he never studied marketing, he just copied successful Internet marketer’s that he found on the web. If what they were doing worked for them, it could work for me he explained. Finally, he invited me over to his house to see exactly what he was doing. I was freaked out about how easy it was. He explained that it did take a little time but the rewards were well worth the wait.
He explained that this was called affiliated marketing and I asked him what the heck is that. He told me it is where you promote other peoples or companies products in exchange for a cut of the profits. He said it was the easiest thing he has ever be involved with. There is no customers to deal with, no inventory to store or ship, and no need to have an office. He told me you can work where ever you have access to the Internet. I was so excited I couldn’t wait to get started. So after a few more visits for one on one training sessions, I was ready to venture out on my own. He let me know where to find products to promote, how to promote them, and how easy it is to earn money doing it.
Then I purchased a laptop for myself and had an Internet connection installed at my house. I used the tools which I learned from my friend and got started. I chose a product that seemed to be in demand. I signed up for an affiliate program, created my website, added product reviews and useful content about the product I was promoting. After I had a good amount of content on my site, I decided to promote it full force. I was posting in related forums and online groups, news groups, exchanged links with other websites, and wrote articles to submit to directories like this one. After a few weeks of promoting every day, I started to get visitors to my website. Within a month I had a great amount of visitors coming to my site and had earned my first commission. This was the best feeling I had had in a long time, I was so excited. A few days later another sale showed up on my affiliate account. Then another and another, before I knew it I had a steady sales every day. It was much, about fifty dollars a day but added to my income at the time it really helped. About a half year later my online business was brining in a few hundred dollars a day, this is when I decided to quit my job and go full time with affiliate marketing. It was the best decision I have ever made. I am now earning a comfortable income from several sites using exactly the same techniques my friend had showed me.
