We all make assumptions about the reasons for our failures. We often cite time, experience or opportunity as factors in failure. However, there is often only one single reason and it is not difficult to identify.
<b>Fear.</b>
Fear of failure is a deep rooted and powerful emotion that somehow stops many people in their tracks just as soon as they start to become capable of enjoying a degree of freedom in their lives. It can stifle creativity and invention. It can prohibit advancement. The feeling of fear brings with it questions revolving around scenarios of upset and failure.
None of us likes to fail and to indulge in something that creates that self same public profile is alien to us. Failure is failure after all.
Yet many great men have failed and learned from their exploits. Failure can be positive and enriching but the fear of failure is cancerous and dispiriting. We worry what might happen before it actually does and this anticipation can be the very thing that spoils our dreams and aspirations.
Fear is simply an emotion – just like love, hate, pride, joy and satisfaction. It can be harnessed and controlled. The negativity it engenders can be contained and channelled for the better. Once we recognise fear as our enemy then we can embrace it as our friend and ally.
