What is a Load Cell and Its Applications ?

Load cell is a transducer which converts force applied into human readable form. The process of conversion to human readable form is done by load indicator or load controller.Whenever load is applied to load cell the element(load cell body) goes under stress and develops load pockets. With precision understanding and study of formation of load pockets strain gauges are fixed onto the load pockets and all are connected through electrical circuits.

When load is applied the resistance of strain gauges changes depending upon the pressure or force or load applied.Thus the change is resistance of strain gauges is equal to load applied, so we can call it as an transducer. The electrical circuit is functioning on the Wheatstone’s principal.
