The 7-day Self Improvement Program

I seem to lost count on how many times I’ve read and heard of celebrity marriages failing almost left and right. Not that I care (and personally I don’t), it seems strange that we often see movie and TV stars as flawless people, living the fairytale life of riches and glamour. I suppose we all have to stop sticking our heads in the clouds and face reality.

I can enumerate ways that to lose one’s sense of self esteem. With the environment that we have, our confidence is always in danger. Hence, we should be on the look out to keep our sense of self secured.

Wondering what it really takes to be considered a cut above the rest? These are some techniques to help you improve yourself within 7 days.

1. Know your purpose This can be your one liner. Your life’s tag line. Your purpose will be your beginning, means and end. It is the guiding star on your journey through self-improvement.

At first, it might appeal tricky. Mostly, if you encountered a dead-end in your way. Don’t worry, you’ll find a loophole that will turn things around and give you a new passage.

2. Know your values Reflect on what you value most. Then, write down the top 5 things, people, value, idea or philosophy that you value. The purpose of this is for you to check the if your values fit your goals. Check how parallel they are and note their differences.

Don’t let the numbers drag you down. Instead, let it be a motivation to do more than what you expect.

3. Know your needs Discontentment can stop you from achieving your real goal. Hence, you should fill these holes. You might have a need to be recognized , be a leader or be loved. Whatever that is, it is best for you to attend to these needs. List down the top 4 needs you want to meet for you to move on.

4. Know your passions You know who you are and what you truly enjoy in life. Obstacles like doubt and lack of enthusiasm will only hinder you, but will not derail your chance to become the person you ought to be. Express yourself and honor the people who has inspired you to become the very person you wanted to be.

5. Live from the inside out Reflection and Introspection are the tools that will allow you to live inside out. Be at one with nature. To effectively do this, do breathing exercises that will ease the tension from your body. The best environment to do this practice is a quiet room with little stimulation. Go for a dimly lit space and listen to the classic. Eventually, your breathing will commune with the relaxing melody of the instrumentals.

6. Honor your strengths What are your positive traits? What special talents do you have? List three – if you get stuck, ask those closest to you to help identify these. Are you imaginative, witty, good with your hands? Find ways to express your authentic self through your strengths. You can increase your self-confidence when you can share what you know to others.

7. Serve others To cap this off you have to put into action what you have thought and said. You have to apply those abstract ideas into something concrete. Share your gifts to other people or your community. Extend the action to strangers, experience the joys of appreciation from people you don’t know.

Self-improvement is indeed one type of work that is worth it. It shouldn’t always be within the confines of an office building, or maybe in the four corners of your own room. The difference lies within ourselves and how much we want to change for the better.
