One Client Operating System Exam: This exam will include questions about configuring Windows 7, configuring Windows Vista Client, installing, configuring, and administering Windows XP Professional, and installing, configuring, and administering Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional. You only need to pass one exam for this section and in order to that you will have to choose one operating system to focus on.
One Elective Exam: This exam can contain any topics that are in connection to information technology, specifically Microsoft technologies. This is the anything under the sun portion of the MCSA Certification Exam. There is no need to worry though because you can find the list for the exams under this category on the Microsoft website. You can access the website and choose the elective exam topic you would want to focus on.
The answers to most questions are in a multiple-choice format. However, the exam format can either be adaptive wherein every time you answer the question correctly the following question will be harder or fixed wherein you get to review your answers. It is important that you choose the format you are comfortable with so that you will not have any regrets in the end.
