The lead-in that NBC used referred to the theme of something like, “Live the dream, share the dream” as close as I can remember. I was struck by something about that and it prompted me to sit down and pound out this quick article to you in the hope it might inspire you to reconsider your thoughts on the subject.
You know many people will tell you to put your dreams on paper. In fact, it is true that if you put your goals and objectives into print, you will statistically improve the odds of achieving those goals. It’s even said, that if you write it on a light blue 3 x 5 card, in blue ink, and read it every day and night, it will even increase your odds even more than if you leave those dreams and goals in your brain.
My point is that you should focus on the key words “live and share the dream.” Living your dream is going to be something like those athletes who practice muscle memory. They condition their bodies and their mind to perform in a certain manner and it becomes second nature. In the same way, you and I can always improve our odds of hitting the target that we have for our selves by living it. Live your life of abundance, if that is what you want. Live as if you have already achieved the financial success that you desire. You don’t have to run up the charges on your credit card to do so, but more importantly you give off the aura, the image, that you are a successful person who is has already achieved your goals.
Now the bigger concept is to share it as well. That’s what I like about the Olympic theme. The idea of sharing your dream. You know that just like writing down your goals you increase your chances of success, when you step up and share your goals, your aspirations, you have made an even higher level of commitment to others that you will now know that you have to live up to those declarations.
The natural man in us will tell us not to put it out there for others to hear because that is exactly the kind of pressure we don’t need. But, if you want to be with the winners, that 3% of the population who live their dreams, then that is exactly what you need to do.
