How to Stay on Task and on Time

Whoever said that running a household requires excellent management skills are absolutely correct. If you have a big family who has many activities and tasks that require tending to every day then you need some help with all the organizing you do on a daily basis to make sure things run as smoothly as possible for everyone in the family. To keep track of the thousand and one tasks that I have to do every day, I use something so simple and easy that you’ll think I’m crazy for even mentioning it. With all the new technological gadgets out there, my simple little tool is to write everything down in a household notebook. Yes, that’s it, it’s simple, inexpensive and it keeps me knowing whether I’m coming or going and what time I have to be there. I think you’ll find that having everything neatly composed in a notebook will make your life more manageable and convenient too. Here are just some of items I write down to keep track of my day.

1. I jot down things I need to buy, fix, do and call so that I don’t forget the next time I need something at the store or use something that is broken.

2. I keep track of household cleaning and when the last time I cleaned the bathroom or cleaned out the closet. I like to stay organized so knowing when the last time I did something notifies me when I need to do it again.

3. I write down when my children have activities and school functions so that I’ll know what time I need to get them there and anything else that they may need to take with them.

4. I use my notebook to write down emergency numbers or phone numbers of babysitters or my children’s friends’ parents.

5. I use my notebook for noting what bills are due and when so that I can be sure to get them paid on time.

This is just a fraction of what I use a household notebook for. My notebook has many dividers and subjects inside to keep my home a well-oiled machine that runs like clock-work. I don’t need fancy electronic gadgets to keep me on task. I rely on the oldest gadget in the world, my notebook.
