1. What are the beliefs of the heroes you’ve identified as trusted sources? Heroes as trusted resources are important because their interest is your personal growth and development.
2. What are the dominant beliefs of your parents which you agree and those which you are different?
3. Write down what you believe about the purpose of the following:
- The leader
- The purpose of employees…finish the sentence, employees are the most important to the organization because….
- The purpose of customers…complete the sentence, customers love what our company does because…
- Write down the strengths and weakness, of each generation in the workforce.
- Write down situations which irritated you or perhaps made you angry. Search for patterns of what you tolerate and are don’t tolerate. You’ll find greater clarity about what you stand for.
Beliefs may change, for example we know the world isn’t flat. Evolutions of democracy, socialism, communism evolve and either grow or die depending on those who subscribe to their beliefs. Beliefs are the secret inspiration for massive adjustments in organizations.
You need look no further for a great example. Preamble to the U.S. Declaration of Independence serves as guiding principles for 234 years.
