Well if that’s it, then you could learn from your failures. Learning from your failures will only make you better and the next time around, you won’t make the same mistakes again. You’ll become more refined, acquire more knowledge, and if you are smart, continue trying with different opportunities, different strategies, and different ways of doing things. Go back and see where you failed and hop on it again, this time though, better prepared.
The people that don’t take risks don’t go anywhere in life. Those are the ones that keep their 9 to 5 jobs and for the most part are very unhappy doing what they are doing. All they think about is their 401K and their predictable income. There is nothing wrong with that, it’s just not me. My advice to you is not to take stupid risks but educated ones, learn from your mistakes, and continue trying. It’s not how many times you fall, it’s how many you get up that really counts.
Like Soren Kierkegaard once said “during the first period of a man’s life, the danger is not to take the risk.” Therefore, the younger you are the better it is for you to take risks. You’ll have more chances to get up and try again and plenty of time ahead of you to continue trying with new strategies or taking new risks. However, I believe that everyone should be able to take some sort of risk at any age, again “educated ones.” Read books, study those who have already taken the risks before you and don’t just jump aimlessly.
Risks don’t all have to be about business, it could be about anything you want. You see, I wasn’t born in the U.S., I was born in Cuba. However, when I was 13 years old, I was able to come to this land of opportunities thanks to the risks taken by my family. They stood up against the Cuban regime and bravely told those Fidel followers they weren’t going to stop saying the truth and fought for human rights without hesitating for once that they were risking their lives. My family was tortured, imprisoned, and harassed before they finally opened the doors and eventually let us come to this country. However, they knew that by them taking risks they were going to help many have their voices heard and that’s what was important to them. I dare you now, TAKE some risks and come out of your shell.
