Achievement at Any Cost? How Do You Accomplish Your Goals?

There are different ways of accomplishing your goals and making the things you want to happen happen. Jimmy Durante is quoted as saying “Be nice to people you meet on the way up, because you’ll meet them on the way down” and this can definitely be true, but some folks would respond, I don’t plan on that return trip.

But at what cost do you want to succeed? In my mind unless you can arrive with your dignity intact and with a sense of integrity, your success will have a hollow feeling and your achievement will not shine as it could have. Do you feel the same way? Most people do. There is a minority of people that have the ‘win at any cost’ mentality, but the cost is not calculated by money or time, but by how you can possibly use or hurt people. “Use” is a relative term as well. We all use people and are used by people and it doesn’t have to be a negative thing. I use my offspring to take care of some chores around the homestead, but they also recognize that their roles contribute to the overall success of our family. Each bit helps the big picture. They get that. I am also used as the family taxi and chief cook and bottle washer (in a figurative sense, anyway.) And that all comes with the territory, and it’s part of being a family.

We all stand on the shoulders of giants. Whatever you have accomplished in your life has a foundation in the work of the people and the generations that have come before us. However, standing on the shoulders of giants doesn’t equal stomping on the heads and feet of co-workers or competitors to make yourself look better. You can rise through two methods in this world, one is by improving yourself and the other is by making people around you look bad, whether that’s accurate or not, but the first method is the honorable path.

What it all boils down to, in most people’s eyes is, can you live with yourself knowing the actions and course you have taken? Will you, one day, be proud to tell your children or your mother how you succeeded? I think that’s what it really comes down to. We can lie to ourselves sometimes and say, well, so and so deserved that, or someone else would have done the same thing, but can you in all honesty and integrity look into the eyes of the innocent and speak with a clear conscience?

You can achieve your goals and live the life you were meant to live. The support you need is either right there next to you, or accessible with a little effort. If your goals are honorable, people will go out of their way to help you achieve them.

In order to make progress in your life you have to commit to making change. If you don’t make changes tomorrow is going to be very similar to yesterday, with the exception of you being a day older. Do you want to improve your situation? 10 Minute Transformation

Is ten minutes too much time to spend to live better?
